Snellville is a fast-growing city in Gwinnett County, about 20 miles outside of Atlanta.  The city has a thriving business community attracted by the proximity to Atlanta and large suburban communities in cities such as Lawrenceville, Stone Mountain and Lilburn.

 

According to the U.S. Census, the authority for official demographic statistics, its population has risen 30% in just the last 8 years to its current level at about 20,000.  The majority of the 10.4 square mile area within the City of Snellville is residentially zoned and business is thriving along the Scenic Highway in Snellville’s commercial zone, which is the 4th largest shopping area in Gwinnett County.

Tourism is also thriving in and around Snellville. The spectacular 3,200 acre Stone Mountain Park filled with interesting history is only a short 10 minute travel from Snellville along scenic U.S. Highway 78, the intriguing Avenue Webb Gin outlet shopping mall is in Snellville, and many recreational activities such as golf, tennis, swimming and fishing are conveniently available for people to enjoy.

Snellville has a Council/Manager form of government

The Mayor and the City Council appoint a City Manager, who is responsible for supervising the five official city departments and bureaus, the staff of more than 100 employees, and the city’s daily operations. One important source of official assistance for businesses in Snellville is run by volunteers who are appointed by the Mayor. The Downtown Development Authority actively promotes and encourages economic development that is consistent with the city’s design standards. Snellville’s Planning Commission is also run by volunteers who are appointed by the Mayor and the City Council, and their responsibilities include implementing the city’s design standards, processing official applications for business licenses, site development permits and building permits.

Snellville offers a peaceful, rural lifestyle with many amenities

Homes situated beautiful countryside that is redolent with old Southern history range from as low as $50,000 to the low $100,000’s, and many 4-bedroom, 3-bathroom homes are available from between $180,000 to $200,000. Residents enjoy the convenience of shopping in large well known discount department stores in Snellville as well as in the fashionable Webb Avenue Gin retail outlet mall, and excellent medical care is available at Emory Eastside Medical Center. The 87-acre, city government operated T.W. Briscoe Park is always open for pubic enjoyment with a 7 acre lake for fishing, a 1.2-mile long jogging trail, 8 lighted tennis courts, 8 soccer fields, outdoor basketball courts, a swimming pool, two playgrounds, and an open air picnic pavilion large enough to hold more than one big family convention. There are also some outstanding golf courses in and around Snellville for golf lovers.

Snellville’s convenient location along Highway 78 between Atlanta and Athens has caused it to prosper and become one of Gwinnett County’s fastest growing cities. More than 1,150 different businesses operate in Snellville and bring in over one billion dollars to the local economy annually. At the edge of the city limits near Highway 78, the official city slogan is written on a sign that reads, “Everybody's Somebody In Snellville.”
