Snellville has a Council/Manager form of government
The Mayor and the City Council appoint a City Manager, who is responsible for supervising the five official city departments and bureaus, the staff of more than 100 employees, and the city’s daily operations. One important source of official assistance for businesses in Snellville is run by volunteers who are appointed by the Mayor. The Downtown Development Authority actively promotes and encourages economic development that is consistent with the city’s design standards. Snellville’s Planning Commission is also run by volunteers who are appointed by the Mayor and the City Council, and their responsibilities include implementing the city’s design standards, processing official applications for business licenses, site development permits and building permits.

The 87-acre, city government operated T.W. Briscoe Park is always open for pubic enjoyment with a 7 acre lake for fishing, a 1.2-mile long jogging trail, 8 lighted tennis courts, 8 soccer fields, outdoor basketball courts, a swimming pool, two playgrounds, and an open air picnic pavilion large enough to hold more than one big family convention. There are also some outstanding golf courses in and around Snellville for golf lovers.
Snellville’s convenient location along Highway 78 between Atlanta and Athens has caused it to prosper and become one of Gwinnett County’s fastest growing cities. More than 1,150 different businesses operate in Snellville and bring in over one billion dollars to the local economy annually.
